Osteopathy at CW Osteopathy

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a holistic approach to healthcare. Holistic meaning whole body care. The foundation of Osteopathy focuses on total body health by treating the musculoskeletal framework to improve function and promote healing. Often, pain can manifest in ways that aren't just physical, but also the source of pain may originate elsewhere, and Osteopath's are trained to located the underlying or root cause. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹We strictly follow the biopsychosocial model with our approach, addressing the physical, psychological and social factors. For instance, sleeping postures, stress, work habits, movement patterns, diet and other lifestyle factors are taking into consideration.  â€‹

What to expect in an Osteopathy appointment?

If you are new to the clinic, you will need an initial consultation. This will consist of a thorough case history, discussing your symptoms, medical history and lifestyle.

Next, an extensive clinical examination will take place. Physical tests, movement assessments, and hands-on techniques to help identify any dysfunctions within your body that may be contributing to your pain.

After this, we will discuss our findings and propose a tailored treatment plan for your needs. Advice on movement, postural changes, pain management and lifestyle adjustments will be given. Treatment will be given to what is appropriate to benefitting your diagnosis. Although, dependent on how extensive the case history is, allocation time for treatment may be shorter. We need to understand the whole of you, before jumping into treatment. We will work together, to aid in a better you.

If we feel Cranial Osteopathy is suitable for you, then this treatment will be offered. This type of treatment encourages stress and tension relief throughout the body, including the head. It is a gentle, yet extremely effective treatment, and may be used in a wide range of conditions. Unfortunately, the youngest age we will treat is 5 years old.
